Scoil Chroí Naofa Quiz 2019-2020

Even though it is only early November, twenty girls from Fifth and Sixth class are already back in Quiz club, preparing for the year ahead. As usual the quiz will run every Wednesday after school and hopefully our extra early start this year will set us up for success.

To see some of the questions used every week for practice please visit the Quiz of the Month in the Kid’s Zone in Scoil Chroí Naofa’s Children’s Hub on this site.

Kilchreest Quiz 2020

Our quiz girls took part in their first competition of the year with Scoil Chroí Naofa entering six teams into the annual Kilchreest NS quiz which took place in St. Brigid’s Vocational School, Loughrea.

As usual our girls had a great time and performed really well amongst 72 other teams. However our u11 team in particular did really well, they came fourth in their category and were only 3 points away from the winning score! Well done to them and to all the girls and we look forward to the Athenry Credit Union quiz on the 2nd of February.

Scoil Chroí Naofa Quiz 2018-2019

The girls of SCN are very excited to be back preparing for quiz again and are hoping to do even better this year. Seventeen girls from fourth, fifth and sixth class attend quiz club every Wednesday after school, organised by Mr. Hanley.

Every week they work on a new set a questions from their own SCN quiz books and hopefully by the end of the year they will be quiz masters!

The first competition of the year is the annual Kilchreest National School quiz, to be held in Loughrea on the 23rd of January. Scoil Chroí Naofa has five teams entered altogether in both the u11 and u13 categories and we are certain they will do really well.

As usual SCN will also enter two teams in the annual Athenry Credit Union quiz on the 3rd of February and hopefully all the girls preparation since before Christmas will pay off!

Kilchreest Quiz 2019

Eight girls from Scoil Chroí Naofa took part in the Athenry Credit Union quiz on the 3rd of February. It was very competitive, with 65 teams taking part overall. While the girls didn’t manage to get into the top three for prizes and progression into the next round, they did extremely well and were a credit to themselves and to the school.

U11 team: Éabha, Caitriona, Emma and Alice

U13 team: Hannah, Shannon, Alison and Ciara

Credit Union Quiz 2018

Scoil Chroi Naofa entered two teams (u11 and u13) in the Athenry Credit Union quiz that was held in Clarin College, Athenry on Sunday the 28th of January. Both teams did brilliantly, with the junior team having a great day, coming fifth overall in their category. The girls put in a lot of work over the last few months attending quiz club every Wednesday and it showed in their results against a very competitive field. Many thanks to the eight girls who took part in the quiz last Sunday and to all the girls who took part in quiz club all year. With continued effort I’m sure we’ll perform even better next year.

Kilchreest Quiz

Four teams from our school took part in the Kilchreest National School’s annual table quiz in the Meadow Court on Thursday, January 18th. We entered two teams in each of the categories (u11 and u13), with sixteen girls from 3rd class to 6th taking part altogether.  With the standard very high and competing against 69 other teams the girls performed very well, with one of our u11 teams coming fourth overall in their category. Our quiz teams are now busy preparing for the Athenry Credit Union quiz which is taking place at the end of the month. The girls have quiz practice every Wednesday after school and are coached by Mr Hanley. We are very proud of the commitment and enthusiasm shown by this group of talented girls.

Athenry Library Quiz

On Thursday the 26th of October nine girls from Fifth and Sixth Class took part in the annual Athenry Library Quiz. The girls were divided into teams of 3 and were among 20 teams entered from schools all over Athenry parish. The quiz consisted of 6 rounds of ten questions each. While they didn’t come away with the win, the girls did really well in their first quiz of the year with all three teams coming in the top half of the table. The nine girls who took part were Rosemary Ward, Jennifer McCreevy, Lenore Church, Sophie Donnelly, Willow O’ Neill, Amelia Drapiewska, Aoife Bergin, Farah Flannery, Maia Morgan. The team is coached by Mr. Hanley and was accompanied by Mrs Hallissey on the day.
