Our Science Coordinator announced to the staff and pupils at assembly today that we have been awarded our 12th Plaque of STEM Excellence for the school year 2017 2018. Ms Tyrell and the staff are extremely proud of the achievements of all the children in our school. Ms Tyrell put the logbook of experiments into a powerpoint this year and received some very positive feedback from the judges. They were very impressed with all the fantastic experiments and projects and particularly liked how we share what we learn with each other.
Ms Tyrell also congratulated her own Junior Infant Class who took part in an ‘Incredible Edible’ project this year where they ate lots of fruit and veg which they planted in pots in their room and then moved out to the outdoors vegetable patch. They planted turnips, strawberrys, chives, carrots, spinach, lettuce and potatoes. They learned about how different foods are made and also were tasked with looking for the Bord Bia sign when grocery shopping with their parents. During Healthy Eating Week in May, the class recorded the fruit and veg they ate. Well done, room 3 on a fantastic and very busy years work!!!
