John from the Football Association of Ireland will provide Football Coaching to 5th class on Wednesday’s over the next few weeks.

Galway County Council and WEEE Ireland will be holding a free WEEE Wagon Day for household waste electrical and electronic equipment. Anything from the home with a plug or battery will be accepted at the event. Collection will take place tomorrow Thursday, the 1st of October at Arrabawn (The Mill, Dublin Road) from 10.00am to 1.00pm.  Please see below items that are allowed and not allowed.

All electrical household items General household waste
Radios, iPods, MP3’s etc Green organic waste
TV’s remotes, Video/DVD players, consoles etc Hazardous chemicals
I.T. equipment (erase hard drives) Paints
Microwaves, fluorescent lighting, CFLs, LEDs, etc Aerosols

Congratulations to the following girls in fourth class who participated in the County Galway Finals of the Athletic Association Irish Primary Schools Cross Country Championship in Renmore yesterday; Leonore, Kayla, Abigail, Ciara, Rachel and Maeve. The team was awarded second prize. In the individual category, Leonore was awarded second place and Kayla was awarded third place. All the girls have qualified to the Connacht Final in October. We are all very proud of their achievements. Special thanks to Mr Wallace who coaches children for athletic events.


Parents of 6th class are invited to an introduction of the Parish Programme entitled “You Shall Be My Witness” for children making their Confirmation. This meeting will be held in St. Mary’s Pastoral Centre tonight, Wednesday, the 30th of September at 7.30pm. Parents are requested to bring the Enrolment and Baptismal Forms to the meeting.


 There will be a Staff Meeting tomorrow Thursday, the 1st of October. Children will go home at 1.15pm.


Class teachers call the roll every day at 11am. If your child has an appointment in the morning, please notify the teacher the day before so that your child can be marked present.


Second class children will commence Tin Whistle in the next two weeks. Tin Whistles in the key of C are available at the office at a cost of €6.50.


Mr. Wallace will provide Sports Club to 1st Class children on Tuesdays from 2.30 – 3.30pm for 6 weeks at a cost of €18 commencing next Tuesday, the 6th of October.


Mrs. Murray will provide Guitar Lessons to 4th 5th & 6th class children who already commenced guitar lessons with Ms. Sheridan on Tuesdays from 2.30 – 3.30pm for 6 weeks at a cost of €18 commencing next Tuesday, the 6th of October.


Ms. Sheridan will provide Sports Club to Senior Infant children on Wednesdays from 2.45 – 3.45pm for 6 weeks at a cost of €18 commencing next Wednesday, the 7th of October.


Band practice will commence next Wednesday. If your child is selected to play the Bell Lyre, Melodica or Accordion, a rental fee of €25 will be required.  €10 will be refunded at the end of the year if the instruments are returned in good condition. Children will be notified shortly.

Mrs. Burke and Ms. Tyrrell will select the school camogie team to participate in the INTO Mini 7s Competition which will take place in Athenry on Thursday, the 8th of October.


Owen Fahy from the Galway GAA Coaching Committee will continue to assist the staff in coaching camogie to various classes every Friday throughout the year.


Parent Teacher Meetings for Senior Infants up to 6th class will take place on the 24th & 25th of November. Parent Teacher Meetings for Junior Infants will take place in January.
