Dear Parents, 5th November 2014
Our school has a very strong tradition of choral singing. Children take part in many Choral Events during the year. They sing at Morning Assemblies, Masses, Prayer Services, Concerts, etc. The senior classes have always participated in major choral events such as the National Children’s Choir, the Peace Proms Choir and the Hallelujah Choir Festival. This year the three senior classes are participating again in the Hallelujah Choir Festival which will be taking place in the City West Hotel, Dublin. This programme consists of 12,000 children singing a medley of songs with some dance moves over a four day period.
The following young artists are invited to the choral festival which will make it a festival to remember:
- Seo Linn – an Irish group established in Colaiste Lurgan who have many popular hits in the medium of Irish and can be viewed on youtube.
- Louis Walsh’s new Boyband called “Hometown” who are tipped to be the next big hit. They are releasing their first single at the end of the month.
- The exceptional Tabby Callaghan from Sligo, who is described as the Irish rocker and qualified to the final of the X Factor, Series 1.
- The Billy Barry Children.
- A female soloist yet to be confirmed.
- Our host Diana Bunici who co-presents TRTÉ’s Elev8.
Our school will be singing at the concert on Friday, the 5th of December at 7pm. The Parents Council will very kindly finance the buses for the children. Official Hallelujah Choir Festival t-shirts were purchased last year from the Cash for Clobber Collection funds and will be provided to the children. They are also required to wear dark trousers or dark skirts and a Santa hat.
