We investigated if the egg is really strong along the dome part. We asked some questions. Where do you find dome shapes ? Arches and dome shaped buildings.
In an egg, we have have many arches going over the same central point in lots of directions making it strong.
We got two boxes of eggs, we made sure all were level in the box, strong dome part of egg facing up, removed any cardboard from middle of box.
Ellie was our scientist, she stepped onto the two boxes of eggs, her weight was spread out across individuals eggs and her weight was spread out over a number of eggs. No mess!
The tricky part was stepping off the eggs . Only one egg emerged with a tiny crack. Impressive.
