February 18, 2018/Junior Classes, local community, Middle Classes, Senior Classes/scoil The Athenry Tidy Towns Committee once again invited the children of Scoil Chroí Naofa to participate in tree planting on Saturday the 10th of February at 9am. This year’s project was part of the “Plant a Million Trees in One Day” campaign which took place all over Ireland on February 10th. It is worth noting that Athenry planted the biggest amount of trees on the day, a staggering 9,000 to include species such as oak, holly, alder, scots pine and guilder rose. Our school was assigned an area on the Northern Ring Road between the Ballygurraun and Carnaun Roads. A big thank you to Mrs Monson who liaised with the Tidy Towns Committee to organise the event in our school and who got a super response from parents and pupils on the day. Well done to all who turned up in their wellies and with their shovels!
