Dear Parents Issue: 11 16th December 2015
The Parents Council organised the Christmas Card Fundraiser this year where children from all classes designed their own Christmas Cards. A total of €751.35 was raised. They would like to thank all the parents, children and staff who supported this new initiative. The school also received €225 from the recent Cash for Clobber collection.
Diocesan Visitors will be coming to the school tomorrow, Wednesday, the 16th of December. Children from 3rd to 6th Class will also have the opportunity to make a Christmas Confession with the priests.
Staff and children will participate in a Carol Service this Thursday, the 17th of December.
The Parents’ Council are organising a Monster Raffle. The raffle is scheduled to take place at 11am this Friday, the 18th of December in our school hall. There are many prizes. The Parent’s Council are very appreciative of your generosity in donating prizes. All cards and money have to be returned by tomorrow, Wednesday whether they are complete or not.
Santa Claus will visit the children on Monday, the 21st of December from 9.30am.
The Board of Management has introduced a Voluntary Contribution for each family as a result of reduced funding towards the running costs of the school. The Board is seeking a contribution of €30 per child or €50 per family. We would be very grateful for your donation. In the light of the economic climate, staff has requested that no gifts be given to them throughout the year. Instead however, your appreciation of staff can be acknowledged in your Voluntary Contribution.
Christmas Holidays – School closes on Tuesday, the 22nd of December at 11:45am and reopens on Wednesday, the 6th of January 2016.
Kate Barclay & senior infants had an opportunity to experience a Christmas Wonderland Scene in Presentation College. Some of the children have featured on a video clip available for viewing on YouTube entitled “Perfect Surprise”. Three Mobile have decided to place advert on some TV channels on the run up to Christmas.
English classes for the duration of 6 weeks at a cost of €30 will be available in January for parents who have not English as their first language. If you are interested please contact the office.
The four senior classes are participating in Peace Proms Choir. They will perform their repertoire in NUIG on Saturday, the 30th of January at 8pm. Tickets can be purchased from www.peaceproms.com for €15 per person or €50 for family of 4. Advisable to book early to avoid disappointment.
Grandparents will be invited to Grandparents Day which will take place on Wednesday the 3rd of February as part of Catholic School Week.
