Congratulations to the following children
- Who were awarded Certificates for making a special effort to speak Irish during Seachtain na Gaeilge: Sophie, Nataniel, Julia, Oskar, Sylwester, Cian, Rayanne, Anna, Kalina, Dorota, Nikola & Rhiannon.
- Who are members of the Medieval Town Band. Once again they gave an outstanding performance on St. Patrick’s Day. The staff are extremely proud of all of the girls.
- Who made their First Confession last Thursday.
- Who are prizes winners in the Community Games Competitions; Aoibhe and Sandra were awarded second prize for Handwriting. Giovana and Michelle were awarded first and second prize for Art. Award Ceremony will take place tonight in the Community Hall at 7pm.
The Galway Community Rugby Officer, Wendy Hickey and her colleague organised a Rugby Blitz for the children in the senior classes last Thursday. All the children really enjoyed this experience.
John Morris Burke from the FAI will continue to provide a Football Club to Mrs. Monson’s class on Fridays.
Sixth class girls and their parents are invited to the final session of the Confirmation Programme will take place in the Vocational School today Monday, at 8pm.
The pupils in 5th class competed with the pupils in 6th class in the first round of the Spelling Bee Competition. Tamsin and Kayla were the finalists from both classes. Tamsin will represent the school tomorrow, Tuesday, the 24th of March at the County Spelling Bee Championship which will take place in the Salthill Hotel at 11am.
The Transition Year students will teach another German lesson to the children in 6th class on Wednesday, the 25th of March.
If you wish to order Confirmation Class Photo, please forward €20 by Wednesday, the 25th of March.
The School Photographer will take family photos of junior infants and siblings along with class photos of junior infants, first class, first & second class and sixth class on Wednesday, the 25th of March. Please make sure that your child is wearing full school uniform and tie and the correct colour tights/socks for girls. (navy or white).
There will be a Parent’s Council meeting on Wednesday, the 25th of March at 8.30pm. All parents are welcome to our meetings.
Sharon Higgins will continue to provide Zumba Dancing for the final five classes this Thursday, the 26th of March.
A member of the Knitting Club, Maureen Canon is also an active member of the Irish Pilgrimage Trust. This organisation takes young people with special needs to Lourdes at Easter. Maureen would like us to support her again this year in a fundraiser for the Irish Pilgrimage Trust. She has kindly donated a large Easter egg for a raffle which will take place this Friday. Tickets cost €1 and they can be purchased daily from Mrs. Monson’s class in the hall at 1.30pm.
Athenry Community Games Swimming Competition will take place in the Raheen Woods Hotel on Saturday, the 28th of March at 8.45am sharp. Competition will begin with Under 8s. €3 entry fee required.
The staff and children wish Kate from 4th class the very best of luck in Montreal at the World Dancing Championships on Sunday. We wish her family a very enjoyable trip.
Second class and parents are invited to the next Do This In Memory of Me Mass this Sunday, the 29th of March at 11am.
Ms. Alani and Ms. Tyrrell are organising an Easter Fun Camp in the school from Monday to Friday the 30th of March to the 3rd of April from 10am – 2pm. They will issue a letter regarding details of this camp to all participants this week. All queries regarding camp need to be directed to the camp leaders in rooms three and five.
Mrs Hennessy will provide French Lessons to pupils from 4th up to 6th class after Easter. The lessons will commence on Wednesday, the 15th of April from 2.30 – 3.30pm. They will run for six weeks at a cost of €18.
Children in 3rd class will be attending Swimming Lessons in Tranquillity in the Raheen Woods Hotel from Monday to Friday, the 20th to the 21st of April. The fee is €25.
Children will be getting their Easter Holidays this Friday, the 27th of March at 11.45am. Children do not have to wear their school uniform on Friday. School will re-open on Monday, the 13th of April. The staff and I wish you all a very happy and peaceful Easter
