Dear Parents                                     Issue: 22                16th May 2016

 

Tests will be administered to children from 1st class up to 6th class over the next two weeks. A Grant was received from the Department over the last few years to subsidise the cost of tests. Please forward test fee outlined below to your child’s teacher immediately if you have not already done so.

Our school has been notified that we have been awarded our seventh Green Flag which focussed on the theme of Global Citizenship and Energy (revised) with an emphasis on Climate Change, Social Justice, Inequality, Trade and Fair Trade. We have already received flags based on the following themes: Litter, Waste, Energy, Water, Travel and Biodiversity. Mrs. Monson and the following children; Aibhe, Niah, Helen, Katelyn and Julia will attend the Award Ceremony in the Radisson Blu Hotel this Thursday the 19th of May at 10.30am followed by lunch. A very sincere thank you to Mrs. Monson our Green School Co-ordinator assisted by Ms Murray and Committees in 5th and 6th class. Congratulations to the whole school community who participated in the Green School Programme.

 

There will be a Staff Meeting this Thursday, the 19th of May. Children will go home at 1.15pm.

 

The Cumann na mBunscoil Blitz will take place this Friday 20th of May in Carnaun pitch. We wish Ms. Tyrrell, Mr Hanley, Mr Wallace and the team the very best of luck. Thanks again to Parents’ Council who are financing the bus fare.

 

 

The staff wish Mr. Mc Donald’s 2nd class girls and their families a very special time this Saturday, the 21th of May as the children receive their First Holy Communion at 12.30pm. The children and their siblings may come to school at 10.30am on Monday morning. Many thanks to the Parents Council who will provide a party for them.

 

Mr. Wallace teaches his class every year how to play draughts. All the children participated in a Class Championship last week. Charlie and Bartek qualified to the final Congratulations to Bartek who is class champion.

 

6th class will participate in a Cycling Workshop on Monday 23rd of May organised by An Taisce and supported by the County Council.

 

Mr. Wallace has selected a number of children to participate in the County Sports which will take place in Dangan next Tuesday, the 24th of May. The children will wear shorts, t-shirts and track suit coming to school with rain wear. Apply sunscreen if necessary. Children will need healthy lunches with plenty of water.  The bus will depart at 8.15am.

  • The Athenry Camogie Club Primary School Blitz will take place in Carnaun pitch on Wednesday, the 25th of May.
  • Corpus Christi Procession on Sunday 29th of May after 11am Mass.
  • Reception Meeting for parents of new pupils for September 2016 on Wednesday, the 15th of June at 8pm.
  • Open afternoon for new Junior Infants on Thursday, the 16th of June from 12.30 – 1.30pm.
  • Graduation Mass for 6th class girls and 1st class boys on Monday the 27th of June at 11am
