Dear Parents Issue: 02 18th September 2014
Sixth class pupils are members of our Student Council. The aim of the Student Council is to give a voice to the student body, to make positive changes to our school and to promote the Irish language. Congratulations to the following officials who have been elected: Amy (Chairperson), Rebecca (Vice-Chairperson) and Rhiannon (Secretary).
The staff are currently implementing an intensive Reading and Writing programme entitled Literacy Lift Off in Mr. McDonald’s class and some children from Mrs. Hennessy’s class over a 6 week period. This programme commences at 8.50am sharp in Mr. Mc Donald’s classroom These children do not line up for assembly, It has been noted that there are a number of children strolling in late every morning who are not fully benefiting from the programme and are also causing a major disruption to the other children and the staff.
First class children do not assemble in the hall at home time as they did in infant classes. Please make sure that you arrange with your child where exactly you will collect him/her at 2.30pm.
The Board of Management will not accept responsibility for children in the school yard before 8.45am or after 2.30pm unless they are attending Extra Curricular Activities.
In the interest of safety and due to the large number of junior and senior infants we seek your co-operation with the following morning and evening routines.
- In the morning at 8.45am junior and senior infants line up in the yard where they say goodbye to their parents.
- At 1.30pm parents of junior infants are requested to enter the school through the main door near the Principal’s office where they will queue outside their children’s classroom and then exit through the same door.
- Parents of senior infants will follow the same routine as last year. They will wait in the yard corridors and collect their children from the hall.
- If you need to speak to teacher, please be prepared to wait until all the children have been collected.
Mr Wallace is currently selecting children from 3rd up to 6th class to participate in the Athletic Association Irish Primary Schools Cross Country Championship which will be held in Renmore on Tuesday, the 23rd of September at 12.30pm sharp.
