Mr. Wallace selected two teams to participate in the Cumann na mBunscoil Cross Country Championship before Halloween. Heartiest congratulations to our Junior Team who were awarded gold medals with the title; Co. Galway Champions. Team members include Kayla Madden, Leonore Church, Abigail O Shea and Ciara Walsh. A special thank you to the Parents’ Council for financing the bus.
Mrs Hennessey’s Healthy School Committee hosted a “Trick or Treat” event, Dress & Donate in aid of Temple St. Children’s hospital. The sum of €750 was raised which will go towards the purchase of critical Digital X-Ray equipment which play an absolutely crucial life-saving role. Thank you all for your support.
TY students from Coláiste an Eachréidh will continue to coach Spike Ball to 5th & 6th class on Tuesday.
Miss Murray and the Green School Committee are planning a “Monster Cash for Clobber” for tomorrow, Wednesday, the 9th of November. If you have any of the following unwanted items, please put them in refuse bags – Good Quality Clothing, Shoes, Belts, Towels, Curtains, Bed linen, Handbags, etc. No duvets pillows or soiled items will be accepted. Please drop bags inside the new front door at 8.50am as the van is due to arrive at 9 o’clock.
The Dentist will visit 2nd and 6th class on Friday the 11th of November to chart and check their teeth. Please ensure you have completed and returned your child’s form to class teacher.
Sixth Class and parents are invited to the next Parish Confirmation Mass on Sunday, November 13th at 11.00a.m.
Anti Bullying Week will take place from the 14th to the 18th of November. The theme this year is Power for Good. The aim is to support children to use their power for good by helping them understand ways in which they are powerful and how as individuals or together in a group they can take action to stop bullying. They will also be encouraged to create safe places, to behave in a positive way towards others, to use their words positively, and to avoid online activity that could be harmful. Morning assembly will focus on this theme and the staff will teach many interesting lessons on this topic.
The next Parents Council Meeting is scheduled for Wednesday, the 16th of November at 8pm. If you could not attend the AGM and would like to become a member, please come to the meeting. All parents are welcome to attend any meeting during the year.
Ms. Alani will provide Art Club to 2nd, 3rd & 4th classes on Wednesdays commencing Wednesday week, November 16th from 2.30 – 3.30pm for 6 weeks at a cost of €30. Limited places available.
The Galway Science & Technology Festival is taking place next week also coinciding with National Science Week. Teachers will make a special effort in teaching interesting science lessons and conducting exciting experiments. A BUG Doctor will provide workshops for the children on Thursday the 17th of November.
The Parents Council have signed our school up for the Christmas Card Fund-raiser with www.designacard.ie again this year. Each child has been given the opportunity to design their own Christmas card. A sample of their designs will be sent home this week to give you the option to purchase a pack of Christmas cards designed by your child. If you wish to order some packets, please complete details on the envelope and enclose money. Return to school by Friday week, the 18th of November. A percentage of sales will go towards school funds and be used by the Parents’ Council to fund buses, workshops, treats for different occasions etc.

- All classes will perform in our Gala Christmas Concert which will take place on the 13th, 14th & 15th of December. You will be notified which night your child/children will be performing.

- First Holy Communion on the 28th of May.
