We wish to welcome the following three new staff to our school;
- Eithne Kennedy our new school secretary
- Niamh Comer our new Resource Teacher
- Michelle Leggett our new Special Needs Assistant
The school community wish to congratulate Mrs Michelle Leggett on achieving the title of Connaught Mum of the Year 2016. She was one of twelve finalists out of 850 contestants for the Mum of the Year competition organised by Woman’s Way Magazine.. She is a very caring mum to her sons Aoran & Morgan and is also an extremely generous community volunteer. We are so proud to have her on staff.
Congratulations to the following Junior & Senior Team who participated in the County Galway Semi Finals of the Athletic Association Irish Primary Schools Cross Country Championship in Renmore on Tuesday. Kerri O Driscoll, Aoibhe Rohan, Margaret Donohue, Sophie Costello, Ciara Murtagh and Lucy Lukina were on the Junior Team. Well done to Kerri who received a medal for finishing in the 28th place. Kayla Madden, Abigail O’Shea, Leonore Church, Ciara Walsh, Aine Hardiman and Amy Crimmins were on the Senior Team. They were awarded 1st prize. In the individual category Kayla was awarded 3rd place. Abigail was awarded 7th place. Leonore was awarded 12th place and Ciara was awarded 19th place. Kerri and the Senior Team qualify to the County Finals which will take place at the same venue next Tuesday the 27th at 12 noon. We are all very proud of their achievements. Special thanks to Mr Wallace who coaches children for athletic events. Thank you also to the Parents Council who finances the bus fares.
Sharon Dolan Darcy from Athenry News & Views will visit the school tomorrow at 11.00 am to take a photograph of all the new junior infants which will be advertised in the next edition of the magazine.
The Board of Management recommends that all pupils avail of the Schools Personal Accident Insurance. Forms have been distributed. Please forward either €6.00 or €9.00 depending on whatever option you choose by tomorrow Friday, the 23rd of September.
Transition Year Students from Colaiste an Achreidh will coach the two senior classes in spike ball (volley ball) on Tuesdays during school hours..
Mr. Wallace is currently providing Sports Club to 1st Class children on Tuesdays from 2.30 – 3.30pm.
Ms Tyrrell will provide a Science Club to Senior Infants in Room 3 on Wednesdays from 2.30 – 3.30pm for 5 weeks at a cost of €25 commencing next Wednesday, the 28th of September.
Ms Monaghan will provide a Yoga Club to children in 2nd, 3rd and 4th classes on Wednesdays from 2.30 – 3.30pm for 6 weeks at a cost of €18, commencing next Wednesday, the 28th of September.
Mrs. Burke and Ms Tyrrell have selected the school team who will participate in the INTO Mini 7s Competition which will take place at Coolarne Pitch, on Wednesday the 28th of September at 12 noon. tomorrow,
There will be a Staff Meeting next Thursday, the 29th of September. Children will go home at 1.15pm.
Please check your child’s hair regularly to ensure that any infection of head lice is treated at once. Long hair should be tied back. Incidences of head lice have been reported in four classes already.
Please forward all outstanding monies for books, copies, art & craft, photocopying and Literacy Lift Off to the class teacher immediately.
The staff and I wish to equip and develop our play corners. If parents or friends wish to kindly donate any items to the school such as Lego, Duplo, toys, books, educational games, construction toys, clothes for dressing up, items for imaginative play, etc, we would be most grateful.
The staff welcome support from parents with the education of our children. If you have any skills that you wish to offer the school, e.g. Information Technology, Sport, Art, Music, Dance, Crochet, Embroidery, Sewing, Cooking, Baking, etc. Please contact Principal.
- Confirmation will take place on the 18th of February.
- First Holy Communion will take place on the 28th of May.
