The staff and I hope you and your families had a very happy, peaceful Christmas. We wish you health and blessings for this New Year.

The sum of €3,935.10 was raised and this money will be used to fund buses, workshops and treats for the children over the course of the year. We are very grateful to all the people who donated prizes for our raffle (see list below). The event would not have been such a success without your generosity. There have been a few confirmed cases of Mumps reported in 6th class. For more information on Mumps check out www.hse.ie/eng/health/az/m/mumps/. We have been in touch with the Schools Public health nurse to see when they will be coming to the school to administer the MMR vaccine to the Junior Infants children. They have confirmed it will be March, exact date to be advised.
There have been a number of incidences of Head Lice reported: Miss Feeney’s Junior Infants, Mrs Comer’s Junior Infants, Miss Moloney’s Senior Infants and Mrs Forde’s 1st class. Head lice can spread quickly so it is important to check your child’s hair regularly. The most common sign is itching at the back of the head or neck, so check for tiny white empty egg shells (nits) on hair near the scalp at the back of the neck and behind the ears. Please check your child’s hair regularly and treat the hair immediately, if you find any evidence of head lice. This is the only way to prevent it spreading.
The Board of Management wish to thank all of you who gave the annual Voluntary Contribution during the first term. All donations are greatly appreciated. Donations of €30 per child or €50 per family will still be accepted and appreciated throughout the remainder of the school year.
