The Scoil Chroí Naofa girls had two fantastic days at the Galway Athetics Championships in Renmore. On the 23rd September, we competed in the Galway East championship where our third and fourth class teams finished an incredible second out of over thirty schools. At a gruelling eight hundred metres, this was an achievment that any adult would be proud of. Abigail, Ciara, Leonore, Amy, Kayla and Charlotte made up our team, in no particuar order, with three of the above securing medals for top thirty finishes in the individual category. The fifth and sixth class team also excelled, with Caoimhe and Sarah bringing home medals. Zoe, Michelle, Monica and Amy also completed the one kilometre race in excellent time.
On the 30th September, our junior team was back to compete in the county final. We finished an admirable fifth place, agonisingly close to reaching the Connaught finals. The girls ran their hearts out once again with Kayla securing a sixth medal for the school. Caoimhe also ran in the senior individuals and with a strong finish came in close to the front. We must also mention Sarah who was eligible for the final but had camogie commitments on the day. We know she too would have done excellently. Well done to all the girls and the parents who provided their support…2015 and beyond looks bright for the runners of Scoil Chroí Naofa!
